Jennifer Hudson’s Amazing Weight Loss

Jennifer Hudson Weight Loss: From Idol to Diva

If you’re here I’m sure you know Jennifer Hudson is one of the most talented people in Hollywood today, and she has the awards to prove it, including a Golden Globe Award, an Academy Award, a Grammy Award, and a Screen Actors Guild Award. However that’s not what this post is about. If you’ve seen her recent transformation then you’d be amazed to see that she’s lost quite a bit of weight from her American Idol days. You might now be asking “how much weight did Jennifer Hudson lose?” or “how did Jennifer Hudson lose weight in the first place?”. Well Jennifer Hudson’s diet combined with her lifestyle change helped her lose 80 lbs and dropped her down to a size 0 [edit: multiple sources had made the size 0 claim but Jennifer herself refuted the claim that she was a size 0).

The rest of this post is about the Jennifer Hudson weight loss transformation for those who are curious to find out how the former American Idol star did it.

Jennifer Hudson Weight Loss: The Background

Despite how drastic Jennifer Hudson’s weight loss transformation was, she claims that she knew she always had it in her to do it. According to the singer, she never saw herself as overweight while growing up, particularly since many people in the neighborhood she grew up in were about the same size. Even so, she did lose some weight to prepare for her American Idol tryout. After her stint in American Idol, she maintained a healthy lifestyle, eating healthy and working out even as she bravely chose to go against Hollywood hot-body norms. In fact, she was even asked to gain weight for her role in Dream Girls, the film that put her on the map as someone who not only had vocal power, but had acting chops as well. However, she did shed the weight she gained for the film after shooting, because she has always been a believer of living a healthy lifestyle.

It was only when she became pregnant and subsequently gave birth that she felt the inspiration to really lose weight, because she wanted to set a good example for her son, David Jr. Her efforts eventually paid off, losing a whopping 80 lbs and going down several dress sizes.

Jennifer Hudson Weight Loss: Her Diet (Weight Watchers)

So what was the Jennifer Hudson diet like you might ask? According to Jennifer Hudson, she’s tried several kinds of diets in the past, without much in the way of results. It was only when she joined Weight Watchers that she finally saw a significant difference. In fact, she credits the group for the “Jennifer Hudson weight loss transformation”, and also serves as an official spokesperson of Weight Watchers.

The way Weight Watchers works is they give you a certain amount of “points” you’re allowed per week and they allot differing point values to different foods. Generally greasy/sugary/crap foods tend to take up more “points” and thus you’re forced to limit such foods while fruits and certain veggies don’t take up any points and thus you can have unlimited amounts of them (unlimited servings of fruit is not exactly the best way to lose weight FYI). I personally think that Weight Watchers ain’t too shabby with their weekly classes aimed at educating people on how to eat better and motivating them to stay on track with their support system. But they have some fundamental flaws that will not allow them to be successful with everyone. The unlimited fruit deal is one problem (this can completely destroy your weight loss). Another problem is that they don’t take into account carbohydrate intake. So you could essentially use all your points on bread and still be within their guidelines. I promise you that ain’t gonna’ cut it for most people.

Of course, the weight loss can’t just be attributed to her dietary changes alone. She also made sure that she was getting in some exercise to help her shed the excess weight. So, she enlisted the help of Harley Pasternak, who served as both her personal trainer and motivator.

I mean she obviously kicked some serious ass to get where she is and if she can do it then so can anyone else. I know people like to allude to the fact she’s a celebrity and hence has the money to afford all sorts of luxuries that most people wouldn’t be able to afford but when it comes down to it unless she took performance enhancing drugs (Clen, HGH, T3, T4) which I doubt she did then she must’ve put the work in to make it happen. So hats off to her! And now you can do
